How we review

How we review software.

You should know how a page was produced before you rely on it. This is our process, including its limits.

Research-based, and labelled

Most of our pages are research-based. That means we read the vendor’s own documentation and pricing pages, look at published feedback from users, and compare what independent sources report. Research-based pages carry a “Research-based” label. We do not describe a tool as tested unless someone here has used it, and a page based on hands-on use will say so.

What every page covers

  • What the tool is and what it is used for.
  • Pricing, with the date we last checked it.
  • Pros and cons, stated plainly.
  • Who it suits and who should look elsewhere.

No scores we cannot stand behind

We do not publish star ratings or scores out of ten for tools we have not used. A number looks precise, and without testing behind it, it is not.

Pricing

Software prices and free-plan limits change often and sometimes differ by country. We show the date each page was last checked and say when sources disagree. Always confirm the price on the vendor’s own site.

Independence

Vendors cannot pay for coverage, a better write-up or a higher position in a list. Some links may be affiliate links; see our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, tell us. We fix confirmed errors and update the date on the page.
