Canva review

The easiest way for non-designers to make social graphics, presentations and simple videos. The free plan is generous; the Pro price has been rising.

Pros and cons

What is good

  • Very easy to use, even with no design experience
  • Huge library of templates, photos and graphics
  • Covers social posts, presentations, documents and video in one tool
  • Brand kit and one-click resize on paid plans

What is not

  • Pro price has gone up, and reports of the current price vary
  • Pro is a single-person licence; teams need a dearer plan
  • Less precise than professional design software
  • Popular templates can look familiar

What Canva is

Canva is a browser and mobile design tool built for people who are not designers. You pick a template, change the text, colours and images, and download or publish the result. It handles social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, simple video and more, and includes AI tools for generating and editing images and text.

Pricing

Based on public pricing information checked in October 2026:

  • Free: a permanent plan, not a trial, with a large set of templates and stock assets.
  • Pro: reported between about $15 and $18 a month for one person, with a discount for paying yearly. Sources disagree, which suggests a recent change, so check Canva’s pricing page.
  • Teams / Business: priced per person and higher than Pro. Adding a second user moves you onto this plan.

Who it suits

Canva is the default choice for a small business, marketer or teacher who needs good-looking graphics quickly and does not want to learn design software. Many people never need more than the free plan.

Who should look elsewhere

Professional designers who need precise control over typography, vector artwork or print production will still want dedicated design software. If you already pay for Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express is worth a look because it works with your existing Adobe files and fonts.

Bottom line

For everyday marketing graphics, Canva is hard to beat on ease of use. Start free, and pay for Pro only when you need the brand kit, background remover or resize tools.
